Whats on

British Dragon Boat Race

British Dragon Boat Race

Street Theatre

This Years festival plays host to an array of high energy, top quality, and fantastic maritime characters to keep you entertained from breakfast through to tea. We have a pair of mayhem causing Vikings, synchronized swimmers, staggeringly beautiful singing and shockingly bad jokes, ancient mariners lost in time and space in their ghostly galleons and to keep us all in check the friendly lifeguards and lost porters.

Art and Craft Market

A unique Lancashire art and craft market featuring twenty local artists selling a range of work from handmade cards to bespoke jewellery. These high quality, unique items are an ideal gift you won’t find on the high street or why not treat yourself!

Real Ale Bar

The Continental are joining us this year and fusing their beer and cider festival with the Riversway Festival. Throughout the weekend you can sample some of the best 20 UK real ales, 12 ciders and 12 perrys making this a truly 2012 bar.

Friday Night

The Continental’s music programmers Tuff Life Boogie & in-house arts team: They Eat Culture are hosting the Riversway Friday Night evening. Full line-up to be announced, but expect a killer evening with DJs kicking off at 5, live spots from premier exponents of new music and an array of other cultural delights to make this night on the docks that will be talked about for years to come. Tickets will be on sale soon from the Tourist Information Centre and the Continental.

Bandstand

Taking ideas from the former fantasies of fairground dance engines and public bandstands, ‘The Pressure Company’ brings the past bang up to date with a collection of surreal, ingenious and marvellous musical machines. This bandstand of delight will present a dramatic performance of music and movement throughout the day and night.

During the day, the bandstand will be open to get hands-on and interactive with the marvellous musical machines as well as performing at regular intervals to show how bizarre and impressive they can be. The performance will feature an exciting and eclectic mix of music specially composed with the instruments, think Acid Brass meets fairground Fantasia via dubstep, dance and mash-up!

Maritime Fun

Preston Riversway Festival would of course not be complete without the water activity. We have over 50 guest barges attending from all over the North West, are planning boat trips around the dock and the Marina will be hosting the famous Dinghy grand prix giving you an opportunity to battle it out on the water. Pre sign up for the water activity will open in early June.

Sing the Docks

Sing The Docks is a Preston Guild project led by composer and producer Peter Moser, singing leader Beth Allen and produced by More Music. Over the weekend of 16th – 17th July, Sing the Docks will gather hundreds of singers to be part of a Big Sing that will feature in the Riversway Festival at Preston Docks.
